Driving climate action through design and hope

In November 2023, Fiona Cousins, Arup’s Americas Region Chair, addressed the TEDx audience at the “Future Shaping” event in Manhattan Beach, California. Her presentation, titled “Driving Climate Action through design and hope,” underscored the pivotal role of design in tackling our planet’s interconnected challenges: climate change, the biodiversity crisis, and social inequity.

Creative direction, storyboarding, presentation design and illustration brought the narrative of this presentation to life. The graphics seamlessly blended substance with aesthetics, forming a visual tapestry that echoed Fiona’s message. Through illustrations, timed animations and curated project images, a compelling story was told about how Design Thinking can foster sustainable outcomes in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction industry.
